ScotEduBlogs provides powerful tools to improve the flow of information between Scottish Educational Bloggers. These tools are not hard to use, but it may not be immediately obvious to the casual visitor just how powerful they are. This page will hopefully help as will the Using_ScotsEdublogs page.
Andrew Brown has produced a great screencast What is ScotEduBlogs.
The power of ScotsEduBlogs comes from the RSS feeds from the listed blogs. you can find out more about RSS on wikipedia: RSS or for a quick intro try this video RSS in plain english
Introduction
ScotEduBlogs is a database of Scottish Educational blogs. It already contains hundreds of blogs, and anyone can add a blog to the system. Behind the scenes, ScotEduBlogs is regularly checking the RSS feeds of all these blogs, and keeping a record of what the feeds are saying.
It uses this information to provide the following:
- A constantly updated snapshot of the latest posting from any of the blogs in the system (the News page);
- A listing of all the blogs, viewable by authority, or by tags (the Blogs page);
- A quick view for each blog of the most recent posts;
- Statistics about posts (the Stats page);
