Ideas for Developing ScotEduBlogs.org.uk

Some ideas for developing ScotEdublogs, feels free to add your ideas or develop these ones.

User control of their information or blogs

It would be nice if users could control the information about their blogs. At the moment it is very easy for anyone to edit the tags of a blog. Giving more control is problematic for the site to give ownership of a blog would need some technorati style claiming of blogs.

ping control suggestion

I wonder if the ping/trackback feature of blogs could be used a 'command line' for seb? eg:

add a ping or trackback to a blog post:

http://www.scotedublog.org.uk/control?remove

or http://www.scotedublog.org.uk/control?move&encodednewurl

and

http://www.scotedublog.org.uk/control?updatedescription&d="this is my new description"

alternatively a technorati style link in a blog post: <a href="http://www.scotedublogs.org.uk/control?remove" rel="seb">ScotEduBlogs</a>

Twitter

Since the inception of ScotEdublogs a lot of the conversation among Web 2.0 Scottish educators is being carried out on twitter. Although a lot of this is light chat and banter twitter can be a very useful tool. We already broadcast new posts on ScotEdublogs with the [ScotEduBlogs Twitter] account, nearing 8000 update at the moment. It would be trivial to create a webpage that would aggregate twitter posts by Scottish Educators that followed a particular twitter account, I have ScotEduTwits and would be delighted if it could be used in this way.

API

A while ago I added an API page to the wiki with suggestions for an API for ScotEduBlogs, this may still be of interest.
